What is the Selection Process of SBI Clerk Recruitment?

The SBI Clerk Recruitment selection process will involve an online test (comprising Preliminary and Main exams) and an examination in the chosen local language as specified.

Phase -I Preliminary Examination:

An online preliminary exam, comprising objective tests total of 100 marks, will be administered Online. The examination will last for one hour and will be divided into three sections as outlined below-

As mentioned above, specific time slots will be allocated for each test. In the Objective tests, providing incorrect answers will lead to a reduction in marks. For every wrong answer, half of the total marks assigned to the question will be deducted. There is no specified minimum score required for either the overall or individual tests. Marks separated by sections will not be maintained.

The Bank will select candidates for the Main Exam based on the total marks earned in descending order from the list of all applicants in each category. The number of selected candidates in each category, determined by the Bank and subject to availability, will be approximately ten times the total number of openings.

Phase-II Main Examination:

The following would be the structure of the online SBI Clerk Recruitment Main Exam:

As previously stated, there will be distinct times for each test.

Incorrect answers in the Objective tests will result in the deduction of one-fourth of the marks assigned to each question as negative marks.

A minimum percentage of aggregate marks must be obtained by candidates (5% relaxation available for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD/ESM/DESM candidates). The minimum combined qualifying marks will be determined by the bank. There is no minimum required score for any given subject. Marks broken down by sections will not be maintained.

A merit list will be created based on the state and category. Candidates who passed the test (main examination) will be placed in their respective States and Categories based on the descending order of their aggregate marks.

Examine the Selected Opted Local Language:

Candidates who are selected and can demonstrate proficiency in the chosen local language through their 10th or 12th standard mark sheet/certificate will not be required to take a separate language test. For all other qualified candidates, a dedicated test in the chosen local language will be conducted post-selection but before appointment. Failing this test or demonstrating insufficient proficiency will lead to disqualification.

Final Selection:

The final merit list will be prepared using the aggregate marks from the Main Examination (Phase-II), and the marks from the Preliminary Examination (Phase-I) will not be added for selection. The candidate’s performance in the test (Main Examination) will determine their provisional selection.
